1) Though the revolt was started by the Indian soldiers in the service of the East India company, it soon spread to different partsof country

2)Different sections of the society like peasants, artisans, soldiers, educated Indians and many Indian rulers joined hands to fight heroically against the foreign rule

3) Hindus and Muslims also came together to oppose the foreign domination
