The reasons are as follows:

If flows relatively straight than other rivers: It acts as the good transport medium. Transport in any country is the backbone for economical development.

It is used for trade. Even British used it as the route to transport the goods during their rule.

Agriculture: Since it flow across the country it has huge impact on irrigation project than other rivers. Agriculture is very essential to develop country economically.

wildlife: Various aquatic and terrestrial animals are found so it it the major attraction for tourist also.
