1st ionisation energy:
Energy required to remove an electron from NEUTRAL GASEOUS atom

2nd ionisation energy:
Energy required to remove an electron from a uni-positive ion (cation).

Attractive force between nucleus and outer electrons is more in cation than that of neutral gaseous atom.
∴ 2nd ionisation energy > 1st ionisation energy
