Why is the series arrangement not used for domestic circuits? (Explain)

Series arrangement is not used for domestic circuits due to following reasons :  (1) In series arrangement same current will flow through all the appliances, which is not required.  (2) Total resistance of domestic circuit will be sum of the resistance of all appliances and hence current drawn by the circuit will be less.  (3) We cannot use independent on/off wsitches with individual appliances.

● Series arrangement not used for domestic circuits because -

• In series circuit, all electric appliances/resistors are connected from end to end along the same line.
• Therefore, electric current has only one path to pass in sereis circuit.
• If any of the appliance is defective / not working, the path breaks and current gets interrupted.
• Electrical appliances can not work to their full capacity as voltage is distributed.
• High power appliances can't be used due risk of circuit overload.
