The infant mortality rate in India is high and female infant mortality rate is still higher.
Women generally have lower social, political and economic status in the Indian society. We find dowry deaths, opposition to widow remarriages and low nutritional levels in women.

Answer :- Female had been a victim of social evils from the beginning era of life. For various reasons, they are murdered or killed, in fact in mother's womb. During pregnancy, girls child are killed because they are considered burden for fathers or family. There are various reasons why females are considered burden such as family have to pay dowry, for their protection concern, etc. When a girl child is born their rights are violated such as education or right on parents that sometimes result in suicide. During adolescent, many girls are murdered when they are raped or they are also killed if they complain for molestation. Hence, there are variety of reasons that don't allow women to grow and hence result in their death on large scale.
