Snails have exoskeleton and earthworm has a fluid filled chamber that resists compression when squeezed upon,i. e.hydrostatic skeleton and hydro means water .So earthworm have liquid skeleton. In earthworm the hydrostatic skeleton is more complex due to the segmentation of the body

Actually snails and earthworms are devoid of what we call a bony skeleton. Their body only consists of certain fluid at high pressure that keeps their body near to rigid.

This liquid skeleton protects their body from collapsing. The size of snails and watermark are considerably small. If they would have bones then it would be difficult for them to move as the would have been no place in their body for joints.

Hope it helps.
