why is the sodium metal stored in a kerosene oil

Sodium metal is stored in a kerosene oil, as it is very reactive metal , which can easily reacts with oxygen and moisture present in atmosphere . to cut out the contact between the metal and atmosphere , we kept sodium metal into kerosene.

When sodium came in contact with air it immediately caches fire...... That's why sodium is stored in a kerosene oil......
