why is the study of magnetism so important

Joel873: The root of this question’s answer: because we don’t know enough about them.
We know how to make a magnet, or an electromagnet, and we even know how to make specific magnetic field patterns on a magnet, allowing for rotate-able ‘locks’ that look like normal, smooth cylinders end to end.
However, there is so much that we don’t know about magnets, so much we haven’t tried, that curiosity begs us to continue studying, probing, and experimenting with brand new ideas.
