Southern India is hotter than most of the states in India because :

1. It lies near the equator hence the sun rays are more perpendicular in that region hence keeping that region hot.

2. Though the western region in southern India is also very dry due to the coastal winds sending away the rain clouds.

3. So comparatively southwestern area is hotter than the southeastern region.
