when tricki was recovering, mrs. pumphrey began sending dozens of eggs and bottles of brandy and wine to build up his strength. All these were not necessary for tricki, so the doctor and his staff enjoyed them. Also the doctor knew that if sent tricki home mrs. pumphrey would once again pamper him and he would again fall sick. So he was tempted to keep tricki as a permanent guest.
