Why is the tendency for +3 oxidation state more than +5 oxidation state for nitrogen

it is because of inert pair effect.actually,s orbitals are spherical and symmetrical.Therefore,they are more penetrated towards nucleus.Hence,participation of s-orbital electrons decreases down the group.Hence,oxidation state decreases by 2 units.

once recheck ur question whether it is +3 or -3 maybe it is -3 becz nitrogen never get +3oxidation state
