Why is the there no further raise in temperature, when we heat a liquid at its boiling point temprature

When we heat a liquid at its boiling point, then its temperature does not increases because the heat that is provided to the liquid is used up in breaking up the bond of the molecules of water and hence converting its state into gaseous state.
