Acceleration is a vector quantity therefore it has both magnitude and direction. During circular motion the direction is constantly changing therefore there is a change in velocity causing an acceleration. This acceleration is known as centripetal acceleration or radial acceleration.
Radial acceleration = \frac{ v^{2} }{r} \\ v=velocity \\ r= radius
