The maximum height of the projectile is when the projectile reaches zerovertical velocity. From this point the vertical component of the velocityvector will point downwards. The horizontal displacement of the projectile is called the range of the projectile and depends on the initialvelocity of the object

When a body moves upwards, it experiences a negative acceleration are retardation which decreases the velocity and finally brings to zero at the maximum height.
