Viruses are not considered to be microorganisms because they do not possess all the qualities of a living organism.

Explanation:

  • Till now, viruses are nether considered as living organisms nor non- living organisms.

  • The viruses contain a DNA or RNA which is encapsulated by a protein sheath.

  • However, the viruses do not carry on an replication process unless they find a host organism and use the machinery of the host for replication.

  • Also, the size of viruses is much smaller than the commonly known microorganisms.

  • Hence, viruses are not places in microorganisms family.
