Why is the voltage used for domestic supply much lower than the voltage at which the power is transmitted?

Since the power is proportional to square of current and we need less power loss during transmission and distribution of power hence we operate at high voltage and low current during transmission of power.

Almost all of the domestic apparatus are made for low voltage because many apparatus are made of materials which on high voltage gets distroyed.

Another reason  for not use is the fact that for high volatge we need very thick power cables (HT/XT power cables) which can't be used.

Another reason is the security purpose if the voltage will be so much high people will get shock even if he doesn't even touch it.
