Why is the weight of an object more on earth than on the moon?

due to gravity on the earth but on moon there is 1/6th of the gravity than on earth.

The formula of weight is mass multiplied by acceleration due to gravity
Since the acceleration of gravity Is lesser in moon and weight is constant, the weight of an object is lesser on the surface of the moon. The first answer is wrong.
