because it mass and radius and gravity(in respect with surface of moon)all are less than earth

Weight = Mass × acceleration due to gravity

W = mg

Value of g on earth,ge = 9.8 ms-2

Value of g on moon,gm = 1.6 ms-2

gm/ge = 1.6/ 9.8 = 1/6

Weight on moon/ Weight on earth = mgm/mge = 1/6

weight on moon = 1/6 Weight on earth

thus, weight on moon is 1/6 th the weight on earth

HOPE IT HELPS YOU!!!
