Explanation:

{(The effective acceleration of gravity at the poles is 980.665 cm/sec/sec while at the equator it is 3.39 cm/sec/sec less due to the centrifugal force. If you weighed 100 pounds at the north pole on a spring scale, at the equator you would weigh 99.65 pounds, or 5.5 ounces less.) }

The weight of a body is the pull of the force by which it attracted towards the centre of earth.

Since, the equator is more far from centre of earth as compared to that of distance of poles from center of earth. Hence, the more the distance will be the less will be the weight measured.

This is the main reason reason why the weight of an object is maximum at poles as compared to that on equator.

Answer:

The answer to the question-"Why is the weight of the object more at poles than the equator" is-

Force of attraction

Explanation:

The weight of an object depends on the force  of attraction with which it is attracted towards the centre of the Earth. At the pole, this force is  greater as on account it has less distance from the centre of the Earth.

This is the reason why the body weighs more at the poles than at the equator.

Since,  the force of attraction is higher on the object at poles than at the equator as the distance of the pole is less to the distance of the equator from the center of the earth.

Basically, we can say the main two reasons are-

1) Earth is not perfectly spherical in shape.

As, It has less radius on poles in comparison to equator where it is more.

2)Earth is spinning with more angular velocity

With more angular velocity , at equator the Earth spins decrease as we move towards the poles.

Thus, the weight of a object is greater at pole than the weight of object at the equator.
