Disease can be spread while bathing, washing, drinking water, or by eating food exposed to contaminated water. The term waterborne disease is reserved largely for infections that predominantly are transmitted through contact with or consumption of infected water.

Answer:

During and after floods, water tends to collect in large puddles and reservoirs. Since, this is stagnant water, it becomes the breeding ground for mosquitoes, leading to a prolonged spread of diseases. Not only this, but also, stagnant water causes impurities to accumulate in it over time, making it a puddle of pathogens, that are likely to cause diseases.
