why is there a difference in price between a wholesaler and retailer market.

It is different in each category . For instance in fashion and clothing the retail could be somewhere between 2 to 3 times higher then wholesale price . This margin is supposed to cover the cost of leftover inventory which is a big challenge when you buy clothing in set of different sizes.

There is a difference in the price between a wholesaler and retailer because of the transportation as the wholesalers get the product directly from the company the retailers will buy with the wholesalers. And also because of the quantity they sell.
