why is there a dot in the rust hydrated iron[III] oxide after Fe2O3 Fe2O3.x H20

that dot represents the forthcoming number of water atoms ...eg CuSO4.5H2O

which means copper sulphate crystal has 5 water molecules in it...

when u heat the crystal it becomes unhydrous ie.0H2O molecules
