We need to boil the water and put the leaf in the boiling water so as to remove chlorophyll from the leaf.

Explanation:

  • This is done in an experiment to prove the presence of starch in a leaf.
  • We use iodine to test the presence of starch in a leaf .
  • But before testing we should remove the chlorophyll so that with the help of the chlorophyll the is not able to perform for the photosynthesis.
  • For this reason we boil the leaf and on boiling the chlorophyll gets removed from the leaf and become pale.
