why is there a shortage of water even though it is occupies about 71% of the earth's surface?​

Yes that's true that water occupies 71℅ of the total earth's surface but only 3℅ of water is in usable form and the rest are present in oceans and lakes that are salty and hence cannot be used for fulfilling our daily purpose.

Salty water present in oceans and seas.

So it cannot be utilised for daily

Purposes like bathing, drinking etc. So

For clean water there is only 3% Clean.

Water. Out of that 3%, 2% is the form of

Glaciers so only 1% is the form of clean

Water in lakes, rivers etc....
