Answer:why is there a tendency for the sugar mills to concentrate in the southern and western states of India ?explain three reasons:

1)Sugar mills concentrate in the southern and western states because:

1. Sugarcane- The canes of these areas have a higher sucrose content which makes the quality better and less common.

2. Climate- Since the climate in these areas is cooler, it ensures a longer crushing season for the producers.

3. Cooperatives- Sugarcane industry is a seasonal industry so it is generally done by cooperatives. Cooperatives in these areas are more successful.

2)explain three reasons.why is sugar industry ideolly suited for the cooperative sector:

(i) The sugar industry is seasonal in nature and so is ideally suited to the cooperative sector.

(ii) For entire year the farmers are engaged in producing sugarcane as it is an annual crop. When the crop is reaped, the farmers pool together their resources, set up mills within the sugarcane producing areas and produce sugar.

(iii) The seasonal nature of the sugar industry is combated by setting up cooperative where farmers share the profits and losses.
