Why is there excessive cold in North India in the winter season?

In India, during winters the northern part of the country experiences low temperatures and the reasons for this are as follows..
a) North India will experience a high pressure situation as sun has moved from tropic of cancer to equator reducing its heat intensity there by drop in temperatures. Due to this, the trade winds starts moving from north Indian high pressure area towards south India relatively low pressure areas blowing across the land.
b) Due to the westerly disturbances in the mediterranean sea, the westerly jet stream starts blowing towards India bringing mositure in the form of rain and snow.

in the month of February the cold winds from the Caspian Sea and the turkmenistan bring cold wave over the North Western parts of India.
