Answer:

A sudden spurt has been witnessed in the states opting for organic farming.

Uttaranchal, Sikkim, Nagaland and Meghalaya are planning to ban use of chemicals in their agriculture process. In Madhya Pradesh over 3300 villages have been identified by organic farming.

These states are hoping that the makeover will help them to fetch premium prices from their produce from the export and domestic market. While Mizoram has declared itself 'totally organic', Sikkim hopes to follow suit in five years . Uttaranchal has setup an Organic Commodities Board to promote this mode of farming.

Explanation:

The organic way of producing food is much beyond not choosing to use synthetic plant protection chemicals, genetically modified organisms, antibiotics and growth hormones. It is a holistic approach wherein the productivity is optimized by using various communities within the agriculture ecosystems such as soil organisms and livestock. The main objective of organic farming is sustainability and harmony with the environment. Nevertheless, the inclination of consumers towards organic products is majorly to avoid health issues incurred due to the use of chemical fertilizers.
