why is there need of religion? why we believe in an abstract concept of god.

We never know if our ancestors have written honestly about having seen god or whatever. But, even if God is an abstract idea, it is required in our life to believe it and pray for it, as it boosts our confidence.
We ourselves are our own Gods. We must believe ourselves and have hope and faith that we will succeed one or the other day in life.
