Why is there no dispersion in a rectangular glass slab?

The refracting surfaces of the rectangular glass prism are parallel to each other. Due to this fact, dispersion does not take place. Where as in prism, the 2 refracting surfaces are not parallel, they are inclined at some angle. Due to this, dispersion does occur there.

The refracted wavelengths emerge parallel to their incident direction. Thus the emergent beam is a parallel beam in case of a glass slab, while it is divergent in case of a prism.
