the place of hydrogen is not fixed because the hydrogen have both types of characters is acts as metal and non metal too so scientist cannot define it's fix position and when the Mendleev formed his periodic table he classified elements according to atomic masses so all the isotopes of an element should be given different positions but the isotopes were not given different positions.
