why is there shortage of water even though it occupies about 71 percent of the earth's surface.

because all the 71 % is in the form of salty water present in oceans and seas. so It cannot be utilised for daily purposes like bathing ,drinking etc. so for clean water there is only 3 % clean. water .out of that 3% ,2% is the form of glaciers so. only 1% is the form of clean water in lakes ,rivers etc..
