To know the temperature of a body we can use clinical thermometer which can be kept under tongue for 1mintue.

Even nowadays different thermometers are available in market like

1. thermister thermometer which can be used to measure temperature of infants by placing near ear.

2. We can use temperatures by placing thermometer under armpit fold.

3.Now a day's thermometers are used to measure temperature by placing it on forehead of a person. ( available as strips).

Thermometer is kept under tongue so that the reading which it gives is true , i.e. true reading of the inner body heat. The intense heat of our body is present under our tongue and so it is used under tongue so that we can measure our whole body temperature . The underside of the tongue has the most bloodflow and is more accurate than any part of the mouth. If thermometer will be in contact with air at the same time , then it will cool down and will result in giving incorrect reading. So it is kept under tongue.

The body temperature can be measured by keeping the thermometer at some other place than the mouth:

1. We can use temperatures by placing thermometer under arms..

 2. For Infants, doctors uses thermometer near ear to measure temperature.

3. On fore head of person where thermometer is kept to record temperature

Hope it's help you
