thermoregulation is the ability of maintaining body temperature within certain limits.
larger animals achieve quite effectively because they have a smaller surface area in related to their volume.hence they retain the heat easily.they generate a less energy to maintain its body temperature.
but in case of smaller animals,their surface area is larger relative to its volume,which makes it to lose their heat when it is cold outside.they generate more energy to maintain its body temperature.
