why is tilgul or til ka ladoo gur -chikki consumed during the festival of makar sakranti

According to my Mom....she said that.....Bihari people take this TILGUL or Til-Ka-Ladoo...Because...it is consumed as a Holy Sweet for them.....
This is done to get God's Blessing....

according 2 a legend makar sankranti falls in the season of cold so gud keeps the body warm and also ggud is considered auspicious and helps in digestion.but as makar sankranti is a festival so til is consumped
