Why is torque r cross f and not f cross r?

This is experimentally generated formula and by changing it from

torque = r \times f \\  \\ to \\  \\ torque = f \times r
we will get diffrent answer.

This is the main reason behind this.

because torque is vector quantity so it is not commutative
