Why is trans decalin more stable than cis decalin?

in case of cis decalin the similar groups are in same side of the double bond ,because of this there ovcurs a repulsion between same group this makes the compound unstable ;but in case of trans decalin there is no repulsionbetween same group because in this case same groups are placed opposite side of the double bond
