n adapter is a device that acts as a mediator between two systems that are not compatible similarly tRNA acts as an adpater which mediates the conversion of sequence of Nucleotides (mRNA) into sequence of amino acids (proteins).

tRNA is called adapter molecule because in one hand it reads the codes on mRNA and on the other hand it binds with specific amino acids.
