Pure tungsten has some amazing properties including the highest melting point (3695 K), lowest vapor pressure, and greatest tensile strength out of all the metals.Because of these properties it is the most commonly used material for light bulb filaments.

tungsten is used almost exclusively for filament of electric lamps due to the following features given below
1] it has a very high melting point
2]when current passes through  it ,it becomes white hot and emits light
3]it does not burn out or oxide quickly
4]it glows brighly for a long time and has a long life.
