IT IS BECAUSE TUNGSTEN IS A FREE ELEMENT, THAT HAS THE HIGHEST MELTING POINT(3422 OC) OF ALL NON-ALLOYED METALS, BUT LOW RESISTIVITY(5.60 e-8 ohm.m) AND HENCE, WHEN ELECTRICITY PASSES THROUGH IT, IT BECOMES WHITE-HOT AND STARTS GLOWING. THUS, IT IS USED TO MAKE INCANDESCENT BULB FILAMENTS.

Hope you find it useful! :)

hi friend

here is ur answer

tungsten is used as filament in an electric bulb because they have high melting points.due to its very high melting point (3380 degree celcius), the tungsten filament can be kept white-hot without melting away. they have high flexibility and low rate of evaporation at high temperature.

hope it helps
