when a body moves on a circular path, then it experiences a centripetal force which develops a acceleration in the moving body. That's why uniform circular motion is considered as an example of accelerated motion.

When the velocity of an object changes, we say that the object is accelerating. The change in the velocity could be due to change in it's magnitude or the direction of the motion.
