Why is variation of atomic radius with atomic number across the second period

Across the period ( From Left to Right ) the atomic radii of the elements decreases. Whereas the atomic number increases. So, We can conclude from this that, the atomic radii decreases with increase in atomic number. Reason: This is due to the shielding of the electrons in the atoms.

The atomic size decreases when we left to right because the nuclear charge on electrons on the same no of shell will increase as capacity to lose lose electrons goes down . The nuclear charge helps in binding the electrons towards center.i.e the atomic size decreases.
