Population of organisms reside in well-defined places or niches in the eco system. However, niches can change because of beyond the control of the organisms Ex temperature change, water label change etc.
Answer :-
First of all, what are variations ?
Ans - Variations can be defined as the deviations in the genetic characteristics of an organism which often prove to be beneficial for the organism in the context of survival in adverse situations.
Variations are beneficial for the species but not necessarily for the individual organisms because of the following reasons :-
Variations are found in all the organisms which reproduce sexually.
If the variations are found in a single individual, only that particular organism will be benefitted. But, if the variations are found in a group or a species, the whole group / species will be benefitted.
If the environmental conditions drastically change and one organism as an individual, is unable to survive the change then there is no use of the variation.
Whereas if a big group is able to adapt and overcome the change, it is obvious that a group is benefited because of the variation the variation.
