  • Vegetative propagation is practiced for growing some types of plants because of the following reasons:

  1. Those plants which have lost their ability to generate/reproduce seeds can be propagated using this method.
  2. Helps to grow plants which bears characteristics of higher traits as they are identical genetically to the parent plant.
  3. Used for growing plants which requires more duration to grow.

Additional information :

  • Vegetative propagation is a type of asexual plant reproduction in which new plants are obtained from a part of the parent plant.

  • Under favourable conditions various structures take part in this type of reproduction.

  • This is known as natural vegetative propagation where plant parts like roots, stems and leaves develop into new plants.
