Why is water hyacinth considered to be a 'menace?

water hyacinth is considered as menace becauseit drains oxygen from the water,which leads to death of fishes and other aquatic lifeforms. It is a invasive weed and it can propagate vegetatively at phenomenal rate .also known as terror of bengal bcz first it was introduced in bengal.
