Water is liquid at room temperature because-

  • Billions of minute and weak hydrogen bonds clasp water molecules together for small fractions of a second.

  • Everywhere from 0°C to 100°C, at room temperature water is found in liquid state.

  • Water molecules are persistently in motion.

  • Also the molecules have certain intermolecular force of attraction.

  • Room temperature do not supply abundant heat for these molecules to get the better of their force of attraction and this condition makes the water to remain in liquid state.
