Do not use water on any flaming liquids because they may float on the water and simply spread the fire, or the water pressure may cause the burning material to

because water is a good conductor of electricity so if we try to extinguishing it by water we might get electric shock .

Hi There!

# Why is water not used for extinguishing fire by petrol and fire in electrical appliances?

→ Water is not used for extinguishing petrol fire because if we use water , the petrol will float on the water and the fire , rather than extinguishing will spread to more areas, So we should never use water for extinguishing petrol and oil fires. We should use Sand or Fire Extinguisher , which are better and recommended options.

→ In case of Electrical Appliances , we don't use water because , you must be knowing that water is a good conductor of Electricity. So if the water spreads on floor while extinguishing and when electrical appliance comes in contact with water , The water will conduct electricity as it does and we'll get shock , So using water to extinguish fires of Electrical appliances isn't a good idea. We should use Fire Extinguisher for fires in Electrical Appliances.
