Why is water not used in controlling electrical fires

Because water is also very good conductor of electricity if it is used for controlling electricity then situation there will uncontrollable and will cause huge damage may be of life or money.So we use insulator like sand for controlling electrical fires.

sarthaksinghtariyal: When water hits electricity,it spreads it and spills on the floor resulting in spreading of fire.This would increase fire and also make it dangerous as water conducts electricity.
