Answer:
Water scarcity is being felt in many parts of the world due to various reasons.
Our forests which provide habitats and food for animals and livelihoods for humans, are being destroyed for human settlements and building of industries. Trees retain rain water in the soil. Without forests the entire rainwater flows into the sea. The water will also be not available as ground water.
Due to environmental degradation, we experience sudden flash floods followed by severe droughts. They destroy the crops and when underground water level also sinks, cultivation becomes impossible. Therefore food scarcity causing famines is expected as food grain productions diminished due to low and unpredictable rainfall.
Our fresh drinking water from nonsaline lakes and rivers are getting polluted by plastic wastes and industrial waste dumped into rivers and lakes.
The general public too are responsible for water shortage in cities. The scarcity is caused by carelessness and waste of water. It is predicted by environmentalists that riots and war will occur because of water scarcity. The problem of water scarcity is not a joke. It is not a fiction. We can see the problem and remedial measures must be taken up as quickly as possible.
