the weeds increase the competition for survival for getting the required nutrients and sunlight thus some weak plants perish

the weeds attract harmful insects too

Weeding is the process of removal of unwanted plants.
It has to be done as the weeds result in competition between the plants and weed for space and nutrients. They also attract insects and pests. Weeding can be done manually or by using weedicides (herbicides).
