Why is weight of an object on moon 1/6th it's weight on earth

Weight is the product of mass and gravity that is W=Mg and every planet or star has its own gravity so gravity is the force which can be change so the weight on that particular planet also change. If we consider the case of moon its gravity is 1/6th the gravity of earth and so is the weight.
